11:05- 11:40 - outside time (combination of free play and guided play)

11:45- 12:00 - closing circle

3. Do we do a background check on the teacher?

Yes, we run a Washington State Patrol background check on the teacher.

4. Is there a standing discipline policy?

Our discipline policy is as follows - No child will be subject to harm physically or emotionally. The number of adults with children in the classroom enables us to monitor children closely so that most situations that are typically thought of as requiring discipline are prevented.  When children display typical age related difficult behaviors, we use positive guidance to help them problem solve.

5. Do parent volunteers have a background check?

As of January 2017, all parent volunteers must be able to pass background checks to work in the classroom.

6.  Can I bring younger siblings with me on my work days?

For the safety for all students, only infants who can be worn in a front pack or tummy pack are allowed to join a parent on their work days.

7. Do we need immunization records?

Yes, immunization records are required as part of the forms we keep on file at the preschool.

8. How is snack handled?

Parents bring a healthy snack in approximately once a month for the whole class, usually on their work day.  Homemade snacks are okay, as long as it is okay with the group as a whole.  We have had some years where, due to multiple food allergies, we limit snack options.

9. Do we bring school supplies?

We do have students bring specific age appropriate school supplies for their own use at school; we also collect a $25 supply fee from each student for shared supplies throughout the school year. This allows the teacher to purchase needed supplies.

10. Is the teacher CPR / Fist Aid certified?

Yes, staff are required to be CPR / First Aid certified.

11.  Are the parents CPR/ First Aid certified?

No, you don't need to be.  We usually try to organize a class with the fire station for a course on becoming CPR / First Aid certified.  There will always be at least one person at school during each working day who is certified.

12.  What are the requirements of being a parent with Alpine co-op?

Parents of children in the 2 day per week program work in the classroom about 2 times a month and are required to attend a monthly parent education meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. In addition, they must attend at least 2 work parties during the year: either our classroom "set-up day" in September, a mid year "cleaning" or a "tear down" work day in May or June.

Parents of children in the 3 day per week program work in the classroom about 3 times a month and are required to attend a monthly parent education meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. In addition, they must attend at least 2 work parties during the year: either our classroom "set-up day" in September, a mid year "cleaning" or a "tear down" work day in May or June.

13. Is there a tuition break for multiples?

Families with multiple children enrolled will have the option to choose a discount in tuition (1 1/2 x tuition) or reduction in the number of work days scheduled (1 1/2 x workdays).  Families make this decision at the beginning of the school year, and an agreement will be signed with the family and preschool.
